Swan Valley is 30 miles southwest of Driggs on the west side of Pine Creek Pass. It is a small area nestled between the Snake River and the Palisades Mountains, and Targhee National Forest on the east. It is a quiet community and if you like to be away from the hustle and bustle of a city, this is the place to be. It is 30 miles from the nearest grocery store, but it’s worth it. Palisades Lake is at the east end of the valley and is 25 miles long where it ends in Alpine Wy.
RECREATION In the valley there is fishing, riding, snowmobiling, hiking, hunting, and boating at the lake. Wildlife is abundant. The Snake River runs through the valley and the South Fork Lodge is a magnet for the fly fishermen. It is open for the summer season and always busy. Many of the fishermen hire a guide to float them down the river.
SWAN VALLEY NEIGHBORS From Swan Valley, it takes 45 minutes to get to Idaho Falls, 30 minutes to Driggs, 50 minutes to Targhee, 50 minutes to Jackson Hole, and about 2 hours to the west entrance of Yellowstone. There are so many places to go in eastern Idaho that I cannot list them all.
REAL ESTATE We have many subdivisions in the valley. Some are on the river, some of the bench (an area just above the valley), and many on the valley floor. Most of the properties for sale are land. There are 37 listed. One can buy five acres for between $88,000 and $130,000, depending on the location. There are twelve acre parcels between $225,000 and $291,000, and numerous properties in between. There are a few large acre investment properties from $1,500,000 to $2,500,000. The prices for land are less that in the Driggs area. We only have eleven homes for sale from $269,000 to $1,595,000 listed.
Living in Swan Valley is about as close to heaven as you can get. |
